Wow, it has been a while since I last checked in. Well, I am doing well. Holding steady between 210 and 215. Seemed to have halted for some reason. No worries. The difference can be seen in the mirror.
My afternoon run and now included a new motivation tool. Middle school is now in session. Boy, those kids can be brutal. Today it was "jiggle, jiggle, jiggle" followed by some snickering. Little do these little brats know but 7 out of 10 of them will wish in 20 years to look half as good I as I getting to. Most will be fat, some already are. Anyways, the new motivation is to see if I can make the negative comments cease by the end of their school year.
I am getting close to putting a new set of pics. Would like to hit 200 first.

Work out.
Today's lunch work out was good. 2 times around the park at a jog, 1 time at a walk. Threw in some sprint intervals (modified, 10 seconds on/20seconds off). Also did not arm and shoulder work on the park bench. Weights are really not needed for the strength training days. I watched a couple moves on YouTube by Mark Sisson for no weight strength training. They work good. Just got learn a few new ones to throw into the mix.
Oh, still holding at 18 pounds lost as of yesterday. Will weigh out this afternoon. I fasted a bit yesterday so I am expecting a good number. Shooting for the 20 mark!

Another week, another 5 pounds...
... I hope. Held steady all last week. Doing over time last week and this week. That might've had something to do with it. It'll be a nice check right in time for vacation.
Shooting for 100% Primal this work week. No cheating. Which means no beers at night and no Dew to wake up.

Checking In
Okay, it has been a while since my last post. I've been very busy at work and my routine eats up my time at home. The good news is I am down 18 pounds and holding steady for about a week. I have muscles again in my arms and legs. Even starting to see the beginnings of some definition in the abs and chest. Still a ways to go to lose the beer belly, so the abs wont show for a while.
Anyways, keeping at it and staying true to the Primal Life. Still drinking beer though. But, Sam Adam's Summer Ale season is almost over. Should see great results once I am not drinking a 12 pack a week.

End of week odds & ends
Down a 1.2 pounds between Thursday and today. That puts me at 224.4. So far a total of 9.2 pounds over 13 days. I bet I hit the 10 mark tomorrow. That'll make an average of 5 pounds per week. Conventional wisdom says 1 to 2 pounds per week loss is healthy. Any more is unhealthy. But, going by CW's past track record I am not at all worried about it. In fact, by not adhering to CW I feel I am on the right track.
Beer is slowing down my progress I think. In the past 7 days I have consumed 19 beers (1 was at least gluten free). The weight loss speed is fine by me, but it is the cigarette cravings when having a beer that is the real problem. I drink, I smoke. Not good. Not sure if I am hard core enough to give up Mountain Dew, cigarettes (when not drinking at least) and beer.
If it were not for the 6 pack of Sam Adam's Summer Ale last night on the patio my calorie count for the day was astronomically low. Barely above 500 for the entire day. I did not feel hungry at all, but when I added up what I had eaten for the entire day I was shocked at how low it was. Even with the 6 pack, I did not even come close the 2400 calorie CW says man should consume per day. Maybe I am missing something when calculating calorie count. So, today I am writing down and doing a running total through out the day.
With the enormous deficit in caloric intake per day that I seem to be comfortable with, I should be hitting between 3000 and 4000 difference on intake and burned. That should be 1 pound per day. I am not getting that. Have to look into this more.

Routine
Day 11 or 12, can't remember off hand. I am beginning to feel a normal routine take hold. The half hour Power 90 is done 5 out the 7 days of the week, with Wednesdays and Sundays off. It goes like this; get home do the daily Power 90 circuit 1 & 2. Throw on the feet gloves and go clean the dog poo for the day in the backyard including filling the dog water bowls with cool water. Leash the dogs and head out for a 1/2 hour to 45 minute walk. Head inside while the dogs cool off and grab a shower. Then eat. This week I've thrown in a run/walk at lunch of a total of 3.4 miles. That is twice around the block at work. First day I did roughly 1.25 mile jog, yesterday a 1.75 mile jog. The rest was walking. All in the feet gloves.
This past weekend I did have 9 beers and finished off the 12 pack on Tuesday night. Of course the nicotine craving kicked in right away. Had to two packs of smokes from Friday night to Tuesday. Not good, but in relation to the 1 1/2 pack a day before not that bad either. Still, it might be better to cut out the beer for about 2 months til I break the cig habit completely.
Weight loss is slowing down this week. In fact I gained a pound between Tuesday and today. I know the cause. We went and used our $20 food coupons at the Canary last night. I ordered the taco salad minus the sour cream and refried beans. Also had the tortilla soup minus the chips. Somewhere in the meal there must have been some flour or wheat. That is the only thing I can think of to explain the 1 pound gain is a day. Lesson learned. Only Primal food cooked at home from now on (except August 14th when Famous Dave's is doing the Daves eat free again).
Current weight is at 226.6.
Right now I am eating the last of the spinach bread I made on Sunday. It seems to be a great fuel for my lunch jogs in 100+ heat. I can not remember when I was able to jog over a mile at once. I will be sticking with this fuel source every weekday at 11 a.m.

Fasting Lesson Learned
Okay, I did roughly a 20 hour fast yesterday. It felt good, no real hunger pains until hour 19. Then I had to eat something and quick. I ended up having sauerkraut and two brats (minus the bun of course) with some brown spicy mustard (not made with sugar). It was by far one of the best tasting meals all week! Hunger really is the best spice.
But, my exercise routine paid the price. I had no energy to do cardio, abs or even take the dogs for a walk before eating. After the meal I felt too stuffed to do much moving. I should have taken the dogs for a walk but even skipped that. To stay on track with the P90 routine I'll jam the missed day into Sunday which was suppose to be the rest day.
Fasting might be out for a while. At least until I am used to being active again. There was a time when I could comfortably eat only every other day. Those days are past for now. They might reappear in the future.
Either way, I just weighed in again. Another 1.9 pounds since Wednesday! This losing weight so far is easy! Sure hope it continues.
I do have to rat myself out. 3 mountain dews over the last two days. One was a 16 ouncer. Oops. Still, not 100% but getting closer. I have a feeling I'll be picking up a 12 pack of Samuel Adam's Summer Ale for the weekend. It is going to be a battle of will not to. The backyard and sun is calling me. It would be strange to do backyard work and not have a Summer Ale sitting on the table. Of course, after the first delicious beer the nicotine craving will begin. This will be a true test of my commitment. I'll update the beer or no beer status on Monday.

Day 4 Update
Everything is nearly on track. I did break down and purchase a pack of smokes yesterday. Had one and passed the entire pack off to a coworker to hold and ration out one a day at lunch. I am not going to sweat the fact I am having trouble quiting cold turkey. 1 a day compared to 20 to 25 a day is a huge improvement.
Jogged a bit yesterday during the longest dog walk yet. Felt good and I pushed myself to go as far as I could.
Weighed myself yesterday. Last weigh in was July 8th and I was at 233.6. The full week in between weighings I ate the standard American diet (SAD) with plenty of mountain dews. But the scale read 228.1 yesterday! 5 1/2 pounds, most of which I bet I lost from Sunday to Wednesday. That got me really excited and is a great motivator.
I am fasting today. I've decided every pay day (every two weeks), I will fast through out the day until evening when I will have a large steak to eat. It is lunch now and so far no stomach rumblings. It really is true, when one's diet consists of meat, vegetables and fat one does not feel hungry like when eating glue (bread and pastas). Although, since this is my first week back at Primal I suspect I will be getting hunger pains around 4 this afternoon. It should also be interesting to see how much energy I have for the workouts tonight and the dog walk with no new fuel added today.

Day 2
Yesterday went great. On Sunday, I printed daily checklists for the entire week excluding Sunday. For each day, I write down the items I want to get done for the day. Yesterday it was;
1. Finish last pack of cigs. Check
2. Eat Primal for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. Check
3. Start P90. Check
4. Walk the dogs. Check
Number 4 ended up being an hour walk. Not sure how many miles, but I was moving at a rather slow pace.
Today and the rest of the week will mostly be the same list minus number one. Or with number one changing to "Do not smoke even one cig!". So far so good. It has been 24 hours since my hopefully last cig. Nasty and expensive habit. Be glad to no longer be controlled by it. I even feel lighter with out the pack of smokes in my front shirt pocket. It is like being off a leash.
I will start adding things to the checklist like;
5. Get an hour of sun each day.
6. Walk at lunch (still too hot and I don't want to come back to work all sweaty)
7. Sprint on Fridays.
8. Find some way to incorporate play. I have no clue what this will be. I am rather anti social and not the easiest person to get along with. Maybe learn to dance with Annabell. Who knows.

100% Compliance on 90%
Today I start shooting for 100% compliance on 90% of the 10 Primal Rules. Still missing out on the Play Rule. The plan is walking each night with dogs, no matter the weather. It is hot now, so I will wait til dark to save the dog's paws. All food will be prepared by me out straight out of the Primal cookbook. No fudging, as in no Mountain Dew as a treat at the end of the week. Cigarettes are out again too. Good. Nasty and expensive habit. Snus will be used as long as I think I need it as bridge to being nicotine free. Also, for the first couple of months I am going to cut out altogether the fruits to purge my system of all sugars and to promote rapid weight loss.
Today I grabbed 2 hard boiled eggs (organic of course) and smallish slice of the Egg Bake to take to work with me. The Egg Bake is out of the Primal Cookbook with a few modifications on my part. It is easy to pre-prepare on Sundays and have ready to go for the week. I get about 5 meals out one dish. It includes, 2 medium zucchini, 3 eggs, 5 strips of thick cut crispy bacon, 1 pound ground bison, 1 sweet onion and bacon fat for the oil. Sea salt and peppered to taste. It is delicious and good fuel. No garbage in it.
Tonight, I will do the weight program from the P90 DVDs. This is P90, not P90X. It should be safer for me. Hopefully no injuries along the way as was the case with the P90X program. I tried out the weight program last week which includes several rounds of push ups. I was able to do them but it will take some time to get the elbow back to normal. The push ups were very lopsided. It is my plan to do all 90 days of the P90 program and then reassess by abilities and physical strength/endurance. If it has improved dramatically I will move to the P90 Master series. One step below P90X. If not there yet I will do another round of P90. This will continue with a reassessment every 90 days until I finish the Insanity Series (one, maybe 2, steps above P90X). From there I will back off and maintain using what ever DVD works best for maintaining. Chronic Cardio will be something to watch for at that point. That problem seems a long way off but am looking forward to the day I have it.

Back in Business
Well, it has been roughly 2 months since my bicycle accident that claimed my elbow. I did get a cool scar on my forehead though. And chicks dig scars. So, that is a plus.
But, the accident did knock me off the game for a bit. I used it as an excuse to slack off during the recovery time. Well, that time is over. I am back in business.
Mountain Dew stopped. Check.
No pastas. Check. Been doing that anyways (more below).
Walking. Check.
All grains and sugars cut. Sorta check. Most, but not 100% yet.
Exercise. Check.
Play. No Check. Need to do something about this.
Cutting out all pastas has actually made me lose weight during the recovery time. Even with drinking all that sugar in Mountain Dew.
Here is my new inspiration. This dude started at roughly my starting point and did amazing is a short time.
I wont be shaving my chest for my after picture. This guy did great in a mere 8 months! His name is Dean Dwyer and his full story can be read here: http://www.marksdailyapple.com/when-eating-healthy-is-making-you-fat/#more-22032 Primal living really does promote a fast transformation.
Dean's after picture is what I believe is what all of our natural appearance to be if it were not for the Standard American Diet and the lack of movement in our daily lives. I will soon find out in the next couple of months. Barring any more accidents.

Biking To Work - Follow Up
It took me longer to post this follow up due to the fact the test bike ride to and from work ended badly. I was sort of cut off by a city bus, although technically I could have safely stopped, I chose to go around the bus by hoping back up on the sidewalk. The front tire hit the little lip where the road meets the sidewalk at an odd angle. My bike went one way and I went the other.
All told, 7 stitches in my forehead and a fracture of the head of the elbow bone (the part that rotates the wrist). Maybe I'll post the x-ray later for fun. Also, numerous contusions up and down my right side and general aches.
This will not deter me. Once I heal up I will attempt it again. Just as typing left handed is not going to stop me from posting updates to my blog.
In fact, this accident has hardened my resolve even more. I do not accept the fact I am getting older and spills like this hurt more now. I laugh in the face of pain and will press through!

Biking to work
It has been awhile since my last post. Not much happening Primal wise except I have not been doing to good.
So, to get back on the wagon I've decided to start biking to and from work 4 out the 5 work days. A one way trip is 10.87 miles. At my current weight and going on an estimated time of 1.5 hours to complete I will burn roughly 1280 calories just on biking alone. That is 5120 calories just for my commute to work.
This time of year is a perfect time to start such an endevour. The weather is nice and I believe the wind is done for the most part. I am not that worried about being able to do this as I have been doing roughly 12 miles each weekend with the dogs.
I post an update on this on Monday.

Gave in to Temptation Yesterday
Okay, so I am not perfect. I splurged a lot yesterday. A full day of old eating habits. 2 1/2 Mountain Dews, some Frito's and vending machine doughnuts. The only meal that was primal was my breakfast. Needless to say, I felt like crap at night.
I know exactly where I went wrong. Since it is getting near payday I was down to my last $11 dollars of discretionary cash and I opted for quick and easy instead of good and notorious. My food budget has to be increased to be able to maintain enough cash flow to cover the entire two week between paychecks.
Although I gave in yesterday, today is a new day and I am not letting a one day slip up from causing me to slip back into old habits. So, it was a good breakfast, a good lunch and tonight I will start a 24 hour fast.
There was also a positive side to yesterday. Those bad foods gave me little satisfaction and the dews tasted far too sweet and were actually a little unpleasant. I had 1/2 a glass of Dew on Saturday also and noticed the same thing. It tasted so sweet then that I could only drink 1/2 of it.

What Type of Excercise?
I attempt to get a walk in every day. Does not always work out of course. Along with that I throw in some P90 routines. Not the P90X, as I tried that and injured myself repeatedly.
Two days of light cardio, two days of heavy lifting and a day a plyometrics. I love plyo. Many times I will use that for the Play Hard rule.
I am still holding steady at 233 pounds. But I am on the last hole in my belt now which might mean my waist size might have dropped. Can't wait to see what the scale says on Friday.

Typical Sunday
Up at 6 or 7. Grab bacon and eggs. Two eggs, 7 slices of uncured apple bacon. A glass of water with some lemon juice squeezed in for flavor.
Walked the dogs in the big desolate area near my house for roughly an hour and half. Good walk, lots of hills and I get in lots of spear thrusts (lunges) in on the flatter areas.
Got back home, let the dogs rest and get a drink of water for about half an hour. We tend to play an easy game of fetch with the ball during this time. I take off my "Get Primal - Grok On" shirt and get some sun in while in the back yard.
Then it is off on the bike. The dogs go in pairs and run either 2 or 4 miles depending on the route I take. So, I get 4 or 8. Granted, primal man did not have bicycles but Jack Russells are very hard to tire out and they love sprinting along side the pack leader.
Back home and more intense game of fetch. More sun for me. Dang dogs wont drop the ball right in front of my feet so a little walking and bending thrown in.
For lunch, a slab of meat (NY steak today!) and veggies. Bake my egg bake (eggs, bacon bits, ground bison and shredded zucchini) for the next couple of breakfasts. About Wednesday I will bake up the egg and Swiss chard fajitas. Both are easy and quick for breakfast. Also, hard boil some eggs for quick snacks during the week. All eggs and veggies are organic of course.
At about 4 O'clock the dogs and I will be out on the bike again doing the other route I did not take in the morning run. So, the for the day, the dogs get 6 miles and I get 12 miles on Sundays. During the week there is not enough time for both routes.
If hungry during the evening I snack on unsalted nuts of various kinds.

Record of Where I am Starting From
As embarrassing as this is going to be, I must make a record of where I am starting from. The following pictures were taken in mid December of 2010. Thankfully, I have lost some weight since. Around 23 pounds. These are a good starting point as this was the heaviest I have ever been, at a whooping 260 pounds. Here goes.
As everyone can see I was unable to button the button on the shorts. Also, my posture is completely out of whack. I have a feeling I was tilted like this for years. For some reason no one told me.

Time to Talk About Goals
Okay, that is enough space devoted to what the Primal Lifestyle is. Plus, Mark Sisson does a far better job at explaining it on his blog.
Now it the time to get done to the nitty gritty and lay out my goals.
1. Optimize my physical condition. This does not mean looking like a muscle head body builder that needs to special order his clothing. It means being lean and fit. Some muscle but with the flexibility of a gymnast. What I envision is something along the lines of the 300 actors.
Since the movie 300 is the new Ben Hur to those that are also huge fans of musicals and everything Barbra Streisand, achieving this goal will bring along with it some unwanted attention. Sort of proves that for every action there is a equal and opposite reaction. I will have to deal with this negative aspect when it arises.
2. Reduction of doctor visits. While modern medicine is great for actual trauma it is a little less so for diseases and chronic conditions. There is a reason for this that I will get into in a future post. Sure, a doctor's advice on areas outside of trauma is still good it is not above question. For instance, instead of informing a diabetic patient about the cure for diabetes they prescribe pills that will have to taken for an entire life time. (Yes, there is a cure for diabetes) Or, for my facial condition I was told there was no cure and I would have to fill a prescription for the rest of my life. Well, that was just wrong. But, for the most part a doctor's advice is solid. It is easy to just take that advice and never look further. To avoid that trap, it is better to reduce the reasons to visit one to begin with. Limit my exposure to faulty data. As the database administrator in me would say, garbage in, garbage out.
3. Enjoy life to the fullest. This of course is easier accomplished by fulfilling goals 1 and 2.

Ten Rules Continued.
6. Play often and long.
Remember when you rushed to finish your chores so you could get outside that much faster to play in the street? It did not matter what game it was, just that you were out there playing it. Find that passion for play again. This is easier to do with young children around. If you don't have any of your own don't go join the local neighborhood kids in their activities. Parents of the Boobus Americanus variety have been conditioned by government's mouth piece, main stream media, to believe there is a pedophile behind every bush. Plus, you are already doing far more than you should with all those other people's little shits by being forced to pay for their schooling. Just get a dog instead and save yourself the trouble and dogs are faster. Play a game of chase with your dog. You will be worn out in no time and the dog will appreciate it more than welfare queen, middle class parents pretend they can not afford to pay for his schooling on their own so they get government to steal the difference from you, little Johnny up the street. Screw little Johnny and his welfare queen, overly paranoid of pedophiles parents. Incorporate play into your weekly routine. Make time for it.
7. Get some sun.
Forget all that conventional wisdom about the harmful effects of sunlight. It is good for you. The body does not process vitamin C well without ample amounts of vitamin D. I will get into where modern medicine went off track in a later post. If rule 6 is done outdoors 6 & 7 can be done at the same time. Just be sure to expose as much skin as possible without getting arrested. Face it, the picture above shows a very healthy and attractive woman. If her skin was pale white she would still be attractive but a little less so. Truth by observing the natural world around us is what it is all about.
8. Avoid getting injured.
Be aware of your surroundings. Listen to what your body is telling you. If a particular exercise or movement is causing pain, don't ignore it. Stop doing it and find a way to alleviate that pain.
9. Avoid poisons.
While I am fairly certain Bret Michaels has numerous STDs and should be avoided this is more about avoiding things that can harm you. Well, I guess the band Poison falls into this category too. Listen to what your body is telling you. If you notice a negative reaction to certain foods, don't eat them. Also, of course, avoid things marked with the skull and cross bones. That should go without saying.
10. Exercise your brain.
Don't just sit and veg out in front of the TV or computer in your free time. Play a mind stimulation game with a family member. Do a crossword puzzle. Exercise your brain right now and come up with your own ideas.
Okay, those are Sisson's 10 rules. I would add number 11.
11. Inject randomness into your life.
Primal man lived and died by the randomness in nature. Randomness was at the center of everything he did. Modern life is very structured and we follow very specific patterns in our daily lives. Try and break that mold. Push against those real or imaginary boundaries your life is caught in.For instance, go without eating for a day, don't follow a regimented exercise routine, opt for a nature walk on uneven ground instead of walking around the block on level concrete and so on. No part of our lives should be allowed to fall into predictable pattern. Do not go gently into the monotonous night, instead rage, rage against the dying of the random. Embrace chaos.

The Ten Simple Primal Rules
Mark Sisson developed ten simple rules to living primal. These rules can be found at Mark's Daily Apple or in his book The Primal Blueprint. I am going to list the rules here too.
1. Eat lots of animal flesh, insects and plants.
Preferably from sources you hunted, caught or harvested yourself. Hard to do in modern society. So, getting fresh organic options can substitute. Be careful though and do the research into if what you are buying is truly organic/grass fed/fresh. Most of claims can be made using Federal guidelines of what can qualify with these labels. We all know how well government does things so do your own research. Do not rely on silly government approval.
2. Move around at a slow pace.
Simple enough. Get out and walk once a day. An hour a day is best but do what you have time for.
3. Lift Heavy Things.
At least twice a week. Primal man lifted heavy objects on a regular basis. Remember, he lived prior to the industrial revolution.
4. Sprint every now and then.
Do this once, maybe twice, a week. Simulates running away from predators. In fact, the simple act of sprinting releases adrenaline. A little adrenaline every now and then is really good for the body.
5. Get your sleep.
Get a least 8 hours a night. Take a nap in the afternoon if you feel you need it.
Okay, that is all for now. The next 5 in the next post.

Message to Blood Line Family Members
As you all know (or maybe you don't), I've lived with seborrheic dermatitis since my teens years. Over the years every dermatologist has told me it is a life long condition with no cure. In the past 10 years it has gotten really bad, no longer affecting just my eye brow region but my entire Nicolas Cage looking face.
Well, guess what. I pushed against the boundary those doctors put me in and found out it is not a life long condition. A change in diet has cured it. After some completely scientific research and testing on myself I have discovered it was caused by ingesting gluten. It was an allergic reaction.
I believe Ted experiences an allergic reaction to gluten as well. His takes a different form but it seems to be caused by the same thing.
While very few people are ever diagnosed with Celiac disease, it appears a large percentage of people, 60%-70%, have less intense reactions to gluten. Reactions non the less.
It is my belief our family genetic make up leaves us prone to stronger reactions to gluten. Do yourselves a favor and test yourself by restricting you gluten intake for two weeks and see how you feel or if anything noticeable changes. After the two weeks, introduce gluten back into your diet and note how you feel.
Remember, both dad (grandpa) and (great) grandma Heleckson have a mild form of seborrheic dermatitis. I'd lay money that most of us are gluten intolerant to some degree or another. Plus, Aunt Karen is terribly allergic.
Sadly, if I don't want to look like a lizard face I must give up beer. The horror! Maybe a lizard face just once in awhile then.

Why Primal?
In the mid to late 90's my friend Mark from Wisconsin came out to Vegas for a visit. Since I had last seen him he had put on a lot of weight and was in terrible shape. During this time I was either inline skating of biking to work and walking every where else. My eating habits were not that great but I did only eat small meals only when I was hungry. That translated into once maybe twice a day. I was in fantastic shape. At the apartment complex I was living in it had the typical wall one can see everywhere in Vegas. It was about 6 feet high. On one particular outing Mark and I were going to walk to the nearest bar and call a cab to head to the strip. I went my usual way, over the wall in one swift motion as only an in shape mid 20 year old can do. Which I found out was not Mark. He could not get over. We had to walk to the main entrance to get out of the complex which I thought was just hilarious.
This past December, Mark came out to run the Las Vegas Marathon. I met up with him a day after the race. I was not laughing any more. We had completely switched places in terms of in shape-ness. I had to do something.
After some research I discovered Mark Sisson's The Primal Blueprint. I quickly identified with how he was going against most conventional wisdom. Pushing the boundaries if you will.
While I am no dietitian or scientist, I do follow Da Vinci's advice of observing the natural world around you to discover truths. So, I set about verifying Sisson's ideas of Primal living. A truth I discovered is modern day hunter gathers, yes some still exist, do not get certain diseases such as obesity, coronary heart disease, and type 2 diabetes while people living in modern civilization do. The difference appears to be related to agriculture.
I can only conclude that our modern lifestyle and diet is slowing poisoning us. So, it is Primal for me from here on out.
If all goes well, I will be running half* that marathon with Mark this coming December.
* Only half as the human body did not evolve to run these long distances. Short quick sprints, like one would do to escape a predator, are what we are designed for. That is why long distance runners always end up with knee or ankle injuries. Plus, have you seen these runners shortly after the race? They look like shit. Half a marathon is actually too much but it is a goal of mine to keep up with Mark.

Daily Temptation for April 6, 2011
Okay, so nearly everyday I have been tempted to eat or drink something that is not what my ancient ancestors would have eaten. My normal self created boundary, or a habit box I put myself in if you prefer, I had when it came to these was to simply partake of them and enjoy while never considering the damage I was doing to myself by ingesting something my body had not evolved to process. Today it was this:
A coworker brought this in to share with the office. I had been introduced to this particular delicious brand of poison about a year ago. I love 'em and can't eat just one. The problem is, spuds are converted into sugar once ingested. This causes a major spike in insulin. Eat enough of them over time and the body becomes insulin resistant. So, just like smoking cigarettes, damage is done to your body over time and eventually that damage causes something to break down that you don't want or can afford to have breaking down.
I am happy to say I pushed passed this boundary, or got out of my habit box, today and did not even have one chip! But I have a feeling a "Daily Temptation" might be a regular blog post subject. I hope each one will end with the same result as this one did.

Greetings
Greetings fellow travelers. So, I've decided to blog about the Primal Lifestyle and my own personal journey living it. What is the Primal Lifestyle you ask? Well, a very smart man named Mark Sisson developed it. His own site can be found at http://www.marksdailyapple.com/. I should get a link to it setup eventually. Basically, Living Primal means living as our ancestors did prior to the advent of agriculture. Eating and moving as they did.
It is my hope to share my experience and eventually pass on tips I've picked up along with tracking my progress in Primal.
